PREFACE

Welcome to the ICS Learning Systems Internet Research course. Before you proceed, a few notes about the navigation features of this site.

You will notice that this site resembles a book. Being a hypertext book, its pages are not turned sequentially. Rather, clicking on a linked term in the text will show an explanation on the opposite page (window). The whole book may be read in this manner by following a particular line of inquiry.

Clicking on a link to an external site will open up a separate browser window.

At the bottom of each page is a button that will reveal a Table of Contents on the opposite page. This will serve to orientate you on the structure of the site and allow you to jump quickly to a subject of interest.

The browser window may be resized to your preference. Please ensure that there is at least a line of black on either side of the frame.

The following color codes are used on the site (Netscape/MSIE versions 4. or greater):

---Subject Link
---External Link
---Emphasis

2. We also advise that you set your monitor display at 1024 x 768 pixels and choose "High Color" (or greater) as your color palette.
